Adjustments
The
history of Chiropractic has been noted in ancient Egypt, in Mayan
and Inca times, and in the Renaissance where spinal manipulation
techniques were used. In those time, the practitioners of manipulative
adjustments were considered to be gifted healers. In 1895,
Chiropractic art and science was founded by D.D. Palmer, and spinal
adjusting
became truly understood.
Chiropractic adjustments,
sometimes called chiropractic manipulations, are simply manipulation
techniques that are utilized
by a chiropractic physician in which direct and controlled pressure
in places on spinal bones, restoring them to their normal position
and motion. Malpositioned vertebrae are called subluxations and
create spinal nerve stress.
During a chiropractic adjustment,
the chiropractic physician uses a hand technique to manipulate
the bones of the spine. When
the bone is manipulated back into it's normal position there is usually
a faint popping sound. This fact may raise concern that an adjustment
is painful, however in most cases it is just the opposite. Once
the pressure is taken off the malpositioned vertebrae there is usually
a sensation of relief, as the bone has been placed back to it's normal
position.
Chiropractic adjustments
are more than just returning your vertebrae to their normal positions. Chiropractic
is an art, a PHILOSOPHY and a SCIENCE that works directly and
indirectly with the bodies nervous
system as well. It is in this relationship that a chiropractic
adjustment, while returning your nerve function in
the spine to normalcy, can also promote healing of the entire body. The
chiropractic physician adjusts the spine, removes the interference
of the spinal nerve stress, which allows the body to begin the healing
process that is an inborn ability.
Adjustments are given according
to your particular condition, and on a frequency that will bring
you back to normal
health. It is in this frequency and consistency that the malpositioned
vertebra will be trained back into their normal position. In
addition to chiropractic adjustments, there are many other factors
that will assist in bringing you back to normal health in a shorter
period of time. NUTRITION and EXERCISE are two key factors in
the optimum function of your entire body.
If you combine all of the factors that promote
good health, your recovery and maintenance of
good health will be noted, as you will feel
better, look better and move better. |
