Energy
Fatigue
or low energy is the most common complaint made by patients. Fatigue
may range from simply waking up tired to severe physical and psychological
depression. Chronic fatigue is a warning sign that there
is something significantly wrong with our physical or emotional
well
being. Boredom
When a child complains
of boredom and appears to be tired and fatigued there is usually
an underlying cause. Children
are naturally filled with energy and curiosity. A healthy child
has that spark of excitement that enables them to find interest in
even the simplest of things. When a child is not feeling well
that spark seems to dim.
No matter what the age
of the person, when that spark begins to dim there should be concern. Unfortunately,
with life being as busy as it is in this day and age, most adults
do not pay much attention to the symptom of fatigue. They tend
to write it off as their busy lifestyle running them down a bit more
than usual, however it could be more serious than that.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
CFS, or chronic fatigue
syndrome, is also known as Chronic Epstein-Barr virus, chronic
mononucleosis, Raggedy
Ann syndrome, and the yuppie flu. The symptoms
are usually extreme weakness, apathy, depression, memory loss, impaired
concentration, aching, low-grade fever, swollen glands, exaggerated
allergic reactions, hypoglycemia, and susceptibility to secondary
illnesses. This syndrome can cause a simple flu to remain
for extended periods, and even in some documented cases, years. Many
feel that this syndrome is directly related to a weakening of the
immune system.
Spinal Balance and Energy
Your 24 moveable vertebrae,
sacrum, hips, head and pelvis all need proper alignment to make
efficient use of your
spinal energy. If any of these areas are off center it may
be physically exhausting to function properly.
Energy flows from the
brain and spinal cord through the nerves. With a healthy spine and nervous system the energy
flows freely and continuously, keeping our immune system strong and
resistance to disease high. Physical and emotional exhaustion
may be caused when that flow is impeded by an unbalanced spine.
The Chiropractic Approach
A chiropractic adjustment
does much more than just straighten the spine; it releases pressure
on the nerve system
to restore a more normal and free flow of energy to the body. This
treatment, in turn, brings about a healthier spine and a body that
is less likely to be susceptible to disease.
