Immune System
The
immune system works 24 hours a day, seven days a week to destroy
any useless and dangerous
bacteria, virus, splinter, dirt, dead cells, germs and even cancer. The
body has a vast arsenal of weapons to protect itself, ranging from
skin to urine. Each one of these weapons serves a function
by keeping the body free of any unwelcome intruder. But what
is powerful for good body function can also be a potent disaster. An
unhealthy immune system can overreact and attack the very body that
it was meant to protect and serve. Vaccinations And The Immune System
The most pertinent
damage to the immune system is thought to be childhood vaccination. Not only is it widespread,
but also it has grown increasingly more common as we learn more
about its possibilities. This may be the cause for so many
once rare diseases such as lupus, severe allergies, arthritis,
cancer and chronic fatigue syndrome are now so common. It
is thought by some medical professionals that mumps and measles
are being put at bay for leukemia and cancer.
Nutrition And Exercise
Vitamins A, B-6 and
C have been shown to have immune-enhancing substances. They have been linked to strengthening
the natural protective mechanisms of the body, especially the immune
system. In 1991 researches found that vegetarians have stronger
immune systems, with more than double the ability of white blood
cells to fight cancer than non-vegetarians.
Exercise speeds recovery
from colds and boosts the immune system. Studies showed
that walking 45 minutes per day would speed the recovery from
the common cold, as opposed
to not exercising.
Emotions And The Immune System
Happy people are healthier
people. Depression causes a weakening
of the immune system. Holding in feelings causes emotional
stress, which in turn suppresses the optimal function of the bodys
immune system. Love and companionship have been linked to an
increase in the level of immunoglobulin A, which is the bodys
natural defense against colds and viral disease.
The Chiropractic Approach Laboratory research has shown
that chiropractic care improves immune function. Keeping the
spine healthy through chiropractic care increases your ability to
keep your immune system functioning normally, and gives you a better
chance at leading a healthier life. |
