Symptomology
Many
patients are surprised to discover that chiropractors do not treat
symptoms. The medical approach to treatment is treat symptoms
through drugs or surgery to remove, numb or slow down the problem
area in the body; the chiropractic approach is to treat the patient. They
are trained to find the underlying cause, and help correct it. To judge your health by
how you feel is dangerous. Many
illnesses go undetected physically until they are to far along in
progression to correct. The first sign of high blood pressure
is often a deadly stroke. The first sign of heart disease could
be a fatal heart attack. The body is highly adaptive, and may
warn you only when it is too late.
Proper function of the
nervous system is the key to good health. You may feel good, but not be healthy. The
primary interest of your chiropractor is to locate any improper function
in your nervous system and correct it. Because symptoms often
appear when a condition is progressively worse, it is pertinent that
chiropractic examination be performed even if you feel like your
body is functioning fine. Correction and cure is more likely
if problems are caught early on, as in any disease or condition. |
