Ritalin
Safety
Used
primarily to quiet hyperactive children who are impulsive,
inattentive, easily distracted, and unable to concentrate(Albert
Einstein fit this description).
Dangerous
side effects include loss of appetite with subsequent decrease in
normal growth.
When
the drug wears off children often become more active and difficult
to control, suffer from intestinal complaints, drowsiness, loss of
personality, rapid heartbeat, depression, mood changes, anxiety,
tension or agitation, and hyperactivity.
Ritalin
is a Class II drug and is a controlled substance listed in the same
category as Cocaine, codeine, morphine, and amphetamines.
A
study undertaken by Dr. Doris Rapp M.D. indicated that about 65%
of hyperactive children on Ritalin could be helped by diet, and without
the use of drugs. She commented, If the kitchen faucet
leaks, we dont call for a demolition crew...Ritalin is not
the only or the best way to quiet some unruly, inattentive children.
There
are 350 MILLION dosages of Ritalin administered PER DAY in the United
States-by far the most of any country in the world.
