Young
Women + Asthma Inhalers = Bone Loss & Bad News
On September 26, 2001, the
Associated Press reported on an article that appeared in the September
27, 2001
edition of the New England
Journal of Medicine detailing a study that found "...a direct
relation between the amount of inhaled steroids used and a decrease
in bone density in the 109 women studies."
Pre-menopausal women with
asthma were studied. Three groups
were involved in the analysis -- one that did not use steroids, and
two that each used different doses of the inhaled steroid Azmacort
at different doses. Bone density was measured over three years. Each
year, small yearly decreases were found in bone density in the hip. There
were no decreases in bone density decreases of the spine.
Chiropractic care has been
shown to be very effective in Asthma. Regular
spinal adjustments have even been shown to eliminate symptoms completely. Before
you, or someone you know and care about, are condemned to a lifetime
of inhaler treatments, consider giving Chiropractic care a chance.
Chiropractic is SAFE and NATURAL,
without the potentially harmful side effects of drug therapy.
